Friends,
We had a wonderful week at our VBS this week: almost 150 kids and 80 students met Jesus and served our city together. What a generous gift of God to us!
However, in the weeks leading up to VBS, I was disheartened to discover that we couldn't make an intentional invite to kids in our neighborhood because we were already at capacity in our facility with the kids we knew were coming. This is just one of the reasons we're so focused on "Creating Space at the Table" over the next few years at IAC: we want to have space for everyone!
Today, I want to send a brief update about the progress of our Facility Search and our Facility Fund. Please know you can always go to our springsiac.org/creatingspace to find out more (and read our updated FAQ document).
The best analogy continues to be a duck swimming on the water: even though everything seems calm on the surface, there's lots of movement underneath! We’ve looked at schools, community centers, warehouses, and much more.
We're encouraged by a few properties, but none of them have yet progressed to the point where it's time to have a congregational conversation about them. Please continue praying, and if you have ideas for facilities or partnerships, please email us at facilityfeedback@springsiac.org.
After the Capital Campaign in early 2025, we are far more financially prepared to pursue the right property when it appears. In all, we raised $3.1 million dollars: About $900,000 in immediate gifts, and $2.2 million in pledges. Praise God, and thank you!
However, since market rates suggest a facility will be at least $10million dollars in purchase and renovation, there is still a big hill to climb financially. More opportunities will be available to us as people continue to give and pledged gifts come into our accounts.
We are so thankful that 2/3 of those who pledged have started fulfilling those pledges, and that $192,000 in pledges has already been given. We’re also encouraged that we continue to receive immediate gifts.
